A&F - A Buying Justification

The Ask:

In my second Retail Buying Simulation course, my teammate and I were assigned to act as though we were buyers for Abercrombie & Fitch. Together, we created a buying plan, and with it, a justification where we analyzed different factors of the brand that impacted our decision. I took on Internal Factors.

Skills & Process

Skills I used included varying types of research, such as economic, about the brand, and on new technologies being used by them. Additionally, teamwork and communication, as my teammate and I needed to ensure our work was seamless and complementary. The process required many calls and chats to ensure we had the same vision, which was time consuming, but fruitful. It helped us cover all of our bases, which was important, especially considering both of us excelled in writing over math, which drove us to make this our strongest shine. Overall, it came out polished, and well researched - by the end, we knew the brand inside and out.

Key Takeaways

This project strengthened my teamwork abilities, specifically my adaptability. Being able to adjust to and harmonize with a similar or different working style is a key to success, and ensured that all of our ideas were shared for the best product possible. Additionally, this improved my research abilities through different channels, as I needed to know every facet of the brand inside out.
